USS Midway Museum

The USS Midway Museum is a naval history museum located in downtown San Diego, California. The museum is housed on the former aircraft carrier USS Midway, which was the United States Navy’s longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century.

History

The museum was established in 2004 and opened to the public in June of that year. The Midway was originally commissioned as an aircraft carrier in 1945 and served until 1992. In its 47 years of service, the Midway saw action in several major conflicts, including the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf War.

The museum’s collection includes over 200 aircraft, as well as a wide variety of exhibits and artifacts that tell the story of life onboard an aircraft carrier. The museum is also home to a number of interactive experiences, such as flight simulators and a 4D theater.

Attractions

The USS Midway Museum is one of San Diego’s most popular tourist attractions. The museum is open every day from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

The museum offers a variety of different tours, including an audio tour, a self-guided tour, and a behind-the-scenes tour. The audio tour is included with the price of admission and is available in English, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese. The self-guided tour allows visitors to explore the museum at their own pace, while the behind-the-scenes tour gives visitors a backstage look at the inner workings of the museum.

Events

The USS Midway Museum also hosts a number of special events throughout the year. These events include everything from movie nights and dance parties to educational seminars and aircraft carrier landings.

The museum is also available for private events, such as weddings, corporate functions, and birthday parties.
